beep beep beep…

It’s not my alarm clock, but it’s nearly as consistent and twice as annoying.
I discovered yet another reason why it is best to avoid apartments within spitting distance of a parking garage: people locate their cars in the garage by pressing the panic buttons on their keyless entry controls… about every five minutes starting around 6:30 in the morning.
I don’t suppose it’s really such a big deal, although I may start keeping some earplugs on my nightstand for weekends when I want to sleep in a little. This shouldn’t be a problem for much longer, though. I expect to move to a new place next summer; Lawrence and Westport Plaza top the list at the moment.
I finally stumbled upon Westport on Saturday while driving around looking for a RadioShack. My only Westport experience until then had been a nighttime trip to Harpo’s in the rain. Given the conditions at the time, I didn’t really realize what the area has to offer. Driving around on Saturday noticing the restaurants, shops, Sun Fresh grocery store and Streetside Records (not to mention Sound FX within walking distance) I became convinced that Westport is a better fit for me. In fact, maybe it’s just the smell coming from the Papa Kino’s Pizza, but it reminds me a lot of downtown Lawrence. I have yet to find anything that can compare to Rudy’s Pizza though…

Rah rah Rudy’s!
I was in Westport a month or so ago — I saw six cops in a footrace chasing down someone obviously avoiding the law; a stumbling drunk who vomited four times while crossing the street after leaving a bar; and some guys asking me for crack&hellip all in one night.
That said, I’ve been there other times with relatively pleasant and usual experiences.
